Persimmon growing in NSW

چکیده

China is the world’s biggest producer, followed by Japan and Korea while Italy is the main European producer (70 000 tonnes in 1993). The Australian persimmon industry has a farm-gate value of between $9 million and $10 million, with 280 producers (2000). Annual production is 2100 tonnes from approximately 300 000 trees. Most plantings (65%) consist of young trees less than six years old; more than half of these are of non-bearing age (less than 3 years old). Queensland is the biggest producer of persimmons in Australia, followed by New South Wales.

A Transcriptome Approach Toward Understanding Fruit Softening in Persimmon

Persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.), which is a climacteric fruit, softens in 3-5 weeks after harvest. However, little is known regarding the transcriptional changes that underlie persimmon ripening. In this study, high-throughput de novo RNA sequencing was performed to examine differential expression between freshly harvested (FH) and softened (ST) persimmon fruit peels. Using the Illumina HiSeq...

Hypotheses for Common Persimmon Stand Development in Mixed-species Bottomland Hardwood Forests

Common persimmon (Diospyros virginiana L.) is a shade-tolerant tree species found in southern bottomland hardwood forests. It is a desired species due primarily to its large fruit used by many wildlife species. While it has been observed as a component in natural reproduction, persimmon is rarely found as an overstory species in maturing bottomland hardwood stands. Unfortunately, little informa...
